We’re back to the original house now, with the old extension fully demolished and the rubbly remains carted off in a distant skip.

Now our skip contains a new material, soil, as it’s time to dig the foundations, and with a lot of hard graft from Chris and his amazing dad (and two shovels and a concrete breaker), they’re taking shape.

I have been contributing, shoveling our sandy soil into the wheelbarrow, and the very important job of stamping down the soil (just like treading grapes, I’m sure) to ensure we are getting value for money from our skip account (current skip count: 5).

It’s a nice way to meet the neighbours as well, standing in a skip!
