As long as I can remember I’ve wanted to have a library in my home. I’ve seen some amazing ideas for storing books – from under-stair bookcases to those magical bookcases that are hidden doors to secret rooms. I want both of these. And literally cover all my walls in books. I have enough books.
Anyway, this philosophy isn’t shared, especially with our more minimal/contemporary approach. So I get the next best thing. Two delicious floor to ceiling bookcases, built into the alcoves in our middle room. Set either side of our fireplace. It’s pretty magical.
We had our carpenter create the bookcases as floating shelves. Chunky. And then we painted them white (yes, more painting). And then I had a joyous afternoon unpacking my beloved books. Placing them in the best storage way I know possible, by colour.
