Originally we wanted brick-slips, to give our contemporary kitchen an urban feel. Somewhere along the way Chris fell in love with bronze and started having negotiations with a man who created bespoke back splashes, treating the thin slice of bronze to match our pendant lights. Some kind of distressing.

There were lots of small pieces of bronze sent through the post in envelopes. All with slightly different levels of distress.

One day we got the perfect one and so our beautiful large slither was delivered and lay on our floor for weeks, carefully sprawled so it didn’t warp.

Before we stuck the backsplash carefully on the wall, we had to paint the wall the closest match to the bronze. Then, it was time for the wiggly grab adhesive, evenly over the back of the splash, some very carefully maneuvering, and… gently into place.
